Help us Heal and restore
Our residential program provides a special place of healing and restoration where Aboriginal men come to receive vital support to work through their issues and have some genuine time out from the stresses of everyday life.
Please, donate now to help provide a residential setting for Aboriginal men who are ready to seek help in a safe and culturally healing environment, through our Gulgihwen Change Program.
A devastating effect
The need for your support is greater than ever, alcohol and drugs are having a devastating effect on our Aboriginal Communities.
- In 2020–21, 17% of clients of alcohol and other drug treatment services aged 10 and over were Indigenous Australian
- Over one quarter (28.3%) of Indigenous Australians aged 15 and over had used illicit substances in the last 12 months
- Males were substantially more likely than females to have used illicit substances (36.7% compared with 21.1%)
Many men are destitute on arrival, which increases the complexity of issues they face, including homelessness, poor health and trauma. We’re not prepared to turn them away. It takes time and care for them to achieve healing, financial stability and life-changing habits.
Please, donate now and together we can deliver this change to more men in need.
With your support The Gulgihwen Program will change the lives of more Aboriginal men who are tackling their issues with drug and alcohol use. You will also help sustain our professional staff and help provide an individual case manager for each of our residents. Our culturally focused professional ‘program of change’ is centered on self-responsibility in order to achieve the goal of healing in the long term.
Our program has proven successful for over 2000 men that have had their lives changed by this important work. With some staying from 6-8 weeks through to 4-9 months residency for men facing more complex challenges. Can you donate today to help these men through this difficult and life changing time?
With your support, anything is possible
Your donation will help us to deliver this change to more men, more families and support the healing of the most at need in society faster, better and create long term change.
