Namatjira Haven has a low staff turnover and there is an opportunity now for several new team members. Some positions are being advertised for the first time. Aboriginal professionals interested in making a difference in men’s lives in an Aboriginal community controlled healing service are needed. We are currently (as at 21/12/17) looking to recruit 4 people into the following positions:
Experienced Aboriginal male Case Worker and Group Facilitator. This position requires contemporary knowledge of current trends in alcohol and drug treatments for Aboriginal people and intervention strategies that support change in a compassionate culturally specific way. The ability to develop and facilitate groups is essential. The ability to use a computerised client management system for case notes and data collection is essential.
Aboriginal male Health Practitioner This position requires a level of skills needed that will see you through with training to a high level of expertise or have those qualifications already. The minimum start point for this position will be to gain Aboriginal Health worker qualifications then progress to an area of expertise e.g. nursing, medicine, aged care, etc. Being able to think ahead are key requirements for this position and to run groups to share knowledge and skills.
Aboriginal male Maintenance Technician This position is ideal for an ex- resident or local man with good knowledge of our service to either increase their skills or gain skills to attend to the maintenance needs of Namatjira Haven and to achieve a level that will enable the worker to set up a small business to obtain small contracts off site and to sustain the position long term. This worker will mentor and train ex residents also to be skilled Handymen.
Aboriginal Trainee Administration/Finance officer This position is ideal for a local person interested in becoming an Accountant or high level Bookkeeper. You will be trained in finance at TAFE level initially and then onto diploma or degree level. You will have set paid hours to enable you to gain your qualifications whilst having some regular income. This is an opportunity for someone already skilled in maths and the use of computers. It requires someone with a passion for getting things perfect.

First Aid and Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid certificates, along with a Bus (MR) Licence, or the ability to obtain these within 3 months of employment are a must for front line staff. We are a learning organisation and encourage all staff to further their qualifications to degree level or higher. Having lived experience is not essential for these positions.
