We are here because Aboriginal people want a place to heal and reconnect to self, family, community and culture.
Transforming lives for more than 40 years
Namatjira Haven supports Aboriginal men and their mob in the process of healing from alcohol and substance misuse.
Reconnect to self, family, community and culture
With the support of experienced staff we offer a compassionate and culturally focused professional live-in program of change, centred on self responsibility to achieve your goals in healing.
Gulgihwen means “change” in the traditional local language
Since opening in 1979, more than 3,000 men have come through our doors looking to change their lives for the better.
Data we have collected over 5 years shows enormous improvements in quality of life and decrease in anxiety and depression. More than 90% leave here feeling confident about managing their life.
“Healing must come first so that everything you love doesn’t have to come last”
Our program is designed for Aboriginal men aged 18+ years, to provide education and support towards addressing the issues of substance misuse and related harms such as criminality, and to improve health and wellbeing.
